Hairdressing shouldn’t be about making people look better.

It should be about helping you look more like you

Hair For The People

Who, Why and How

Hi - my name is Annelise (she/her).

I’ve been a cutting specialist for 15+ years. My focus is on carving/intuitive/razor work on all texutres with an emphasis on soft alternative styles.

I focus on building collaborative relationships with my clients, finding functional and harmonious styles that people feel affirmed and empowered by.

I use a blend of razor and scissor cutting techniques to carve, sculpt and guide hair into intentionally curated, playful, naturally informed shapes.

I encourage low-maintenance with the goal of helping people find personalized, functional and sustainable routines.

The name ‘Hair For The People’ comes from the intent to express what I see as the real value of doing hair. It shouldn’t be about editing or changing people. It should be about empowering people in a way that affirms and encourages them to explore and revel in who they are.

Your hair should help you feel like YOU.

Private Studio

A gentle space to affirm and play with identity from a place of joy and curiosity

After years of working in salons that prioritized speed over quality and commerce over connection, Annelise decided to branch off on her own and create a gentler space. One that encourages genuine connection and with enough time to thoughtfully create together.

Part of how this is possible, is by subverting the classic capitalist salon structure and slowing down. By offering longer than average appointment times with rates that correspond to the detail, time and care provided.

When we engage in aesthetics and the beauty industry it’s easy to get bogged down by who we think we should be and what we think we should want. So the most insight I can offer anyone is: invest in your own aesthetic euphoria. What makes you light up, sit a little straighter, has you double-tapping? Figure out what those things are, who makes them and then invest.
