Policies and Practices

  • If you need to cancel an appointment you may do so anytime before the 48 hours leading up to the appointment with the option to rebook and rollover your original deposit to that new time.

Please note that you cannot cancel or move your appointment within the 48 window and you will be charged for that full appointment.

  • Hair for the People has a late policy of 15 minutes. Please reach out by email to let me know if you’re running late.

Unfortunately, if you are 15 or more minutes late, we won’t have enough time for your appointment and you will be charged for that missed cut.

Please note that if you are late by 15 minutes 3 times you will no longer be permitted to book in.

  • Ghost me and I will ghost you…probably tell all my stylist friends about it too.

And you will be charged for your full appointment.

  • For You:

Everyone has ONE yearly ‘sick day’. If you find yourself in that 48 hour lock in and sick, my expectation is for you to cancel and rebook your appointment. Not only is getting sick disastrous for me, financially, it is also dangerous for many of my clients who are immunocompromised. You have one freebie yearly but any future cancellations in that 48 hour window, due to illness or otherwise, will be treated as missed appointments and charged as such.

    For Me:

Given how many of my clients are immunocompromised I treat my own health with prejudice and will and do rebook if I am feeling unwell. I also suffer from aura migraines which can result in rescheduling.

Given my policy and chronic pain I do not recommend people booking in with no flexibility to rebook ie out of towners/ big events.

  • Deposits, whether in full or part are non-refundable after 48 hours of your initial booking.

However you can rebook an appointment with your original deposit up to 3 times, as long as it follows the policies as laid out in the above: Cancellation, Late, and No Shows.

  • Global warming is a real threat to safety, and as time wears on we can only expect the unexpected and that more climate events will be added to this clause.

As of right now my Dangerous Weather Clause allows my clients to bypass forfeiting their deposits IF they contact me STRICTLY no less than 2 hours before their appointment AND reschedule. Applicable to icy road conditions, heat above 32 degrees, and dangerous air quality levels.

I also reserve the right to make judgement calls on climate conditions in regards to my own safety.

  • Hair For the People requires a 50% deposit to book an appointment and then accept CASH ONLY at your appointment for the outstanding balance of $90.

Please remember that I do not accept tips and exact amounts are always appreciated.

  • Carving is not a precision art, it has a wider scope and thus a marginally higher probability of small things like an imbalance or a rogue hair. If you experience that, you are welcome and encouraged, within a two week period of the original booking, to come in for a touch up. Don’t be shy!

However, there is a line between my responsibility and your responsibility. If a cut was discussed, agreed on, and executed as such but you go home with it and you regret choosing it, that falls under your responsibility and a new appointment will need to be made. Please come to your appointments with your on-boarding or return forms filled out and with a clear vision and/or defined boundaries, to avoid such mishaps.

In the scenario that trust has been lost and you no longer feel comfortable coming to see me, or you feel there was a profound miscommunication, you have a 72 hour window to request a full refund with my most sincere apologies.

Please note that refunds are sent at the end of the month, in conjunction with my own pay cycle.

  • My studio holds community care as a core value. Because of that value I have the expectation that all my clients share a good faith agreement around Vaccine Practices and Community Protection.

In practice, this means I expect anyone who sees me to stay up to date, in perpetuity, with all Vaccines and Boosters made available to the public.

  • Hair is kinda like dating. Both parties must agree it’s a match. Though I am accepting new clients at this time, my books are busy and my focus is on growing with the right group of people.

I reserve at all times the right to redirect or deny a booking or clients that are not a good fit.

If you have a history of feeling that stylists do not perform to your expectations, or you're drawn to sleek, structured and/or heat tool styled hair, the carving method is unlikely to be a match and I would suggest a Precision Stylist.

I don’t engage in emotional labour around denied or redirected bookings.

I would like to say on behalf of practitioners everywhere that any reason we have for things not being a good fit, is practical not personal, and it is always valid. We like money, we don’t deny things lightly.

*In my practice I try to avoid anything that could bring notoriety or 'going viral' because of this I respectfully decline collaborating with influencers, models, or celebrities.

  • Hair for the People has a consent form that every individual signs when onboarding. If you behave in a way not in keeping to our agreement you may be asked to leave without refund and be banned from future appointments. This includes but is not limited to: Homophobic, Transphobic, Racist or other bigoted remarks and generally disrespectful behaviour.
